Due to a large investments and growth in the rail freight sector across Western Australia our client is growing their Asset Management and Projects Team.

This is a brilliant business with approx. 400 employees who are looking to recruit an experienced Track Design to join their team.

In this role, you will use your skills to contribute and coordinate internal & external resources for the development of the Infrastructure Design and review i.e. earthworks, track geometry and perway engineering, structures, ensuring safe and reliable train operations.

You'll be working across a range of upgrade projects such as line extensions and infrastructure upgrades to accommodate longer freight trains.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer your responsibilities will be:

  • Design, produce, review, signoff and audit of Track Infrastructure Designs i.e. Earthworks longitudinal and Cross Section Plan & Profiles, Track Designs, Track Geometry and permanent way designs for internal and external projects in accordance with Codes of Practice.
  • Work with various internal stakeholders, i.e. Engineering, Asset Management, Operations, Works Delivery and other support teams and external third parties to implement design solutions.
  • Account for constructability, safety in design, site constraints and operational restrictions/environment in a brownfield railway in proposed design solutions.
  • Develop scopes and cost estimates for Track Infrastructure Design works and liaise with external consultants for engagement, design and delivery.
  • Provide technical track design support to internal teams, i.e. Engineering, Asset Management and Works Delivery teams.
  • Assist in the development of staff to ensure the skills are available within the Track Engineering team to meet business objectives.

About You

To be successful in this role we need you to have;

  • Professional qualifications: Civil Engineering Bachelor’s Degree with experience in Railway Track Design & Engineering,
  • Good Knowledge of railway standards.
  • Proficient at computer aided design (CAD) including Microstation/Auto CAD.
  • Working knowledge of Track Surveying, construction methodology/principles.
  • Working knowledge of perway engineering and track engineering safety standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of track engineering software (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of asset management principles (desirable)

Remuneration & core information.

This is a permanent position on a 2 year Fixed Term Contract basis with strong potential for extension / redeployment.

Flexible working arrangements

Salary range AUD$ 150,000 - AUD$ 160,000

Exchange rate (subject to fluctuation) to GBP would be upto £91,072
