We are currently looking for a Track Design Engineer/Permanent Way Design Engineer to work for a major Engineering consultancy based in Northwest, specifically Manchester with the said consultancy working on major Rail Projects such as the East Coast Mainline, HS2 and TRU.

As the Track Design Engineer, you will produce permanent way engineering designs, studies and reports for railway infrastructure projects to achieve the required scope and quality. When required you will act as the Lead Engineer on projects ensure project budgets and programmes are achieved.  Along with undertaking technical Permanent Way Design such as Horizontal/vertical alignment and S&C, you will also support the team providing technical guidance to other members of the Track Team ensuring safe design practices are adhered to.


 As the Track Design Engineer job duties can include, but not limited to:

• Design of permanent way solutions for engineering projects in accordance with client requirements
• Lead projects and provide task guidance and monitoring of performance
• Provide project progress reports and updates to the Track Team Leader and Project Management Team.
• Achieve the scope agreed with the Design Manager/Project Co-ordinator regarding the effective delivery of projects to current engineering and safety standards.
• Achieve personal and project targets including utilisation, delivering projects to budget and programme.

Job requirements

• Experience in design software such as, or similar too: Microstation, Bentley RailTrack, OpenRail or ClearRoute
• Proficient at permanent way engineering alignment design and track components specification.
• Minimum 4 years design experience within a Track environment
• Knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with permanent way design
