We currently seek an enthusiastic experienced Chartered Electrical Engineer with a Rail background to join our client’s team of industry leading professionals. The role can be based in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, York or Manchester. You will be working on major UK Rail projects in this unique opportunity. This is a permanent position with a salary of £55-69,000 + excellent benefits.
As an experienced Electrical Engineer you will be joining a small dedicated specialist team in a challenging and varied role. You will have an understanding of the operational and maintenance requirements of UK rail and current safety management arrangements
Responsibilities include:
•This role will provide Electrical Safety expertise. The role involves scrutiny of current and future electrical infrastructure: how it is designed, maintained and operated to ensure the safety of staff and members of the public.
•The purpose of this new post is to contribute to our assessment of safety and health risk arising from installation, operation and maintenance of electrical equipment, and to provide assurance that newly installed electrical systems are being designed to ensure that the risk is being managed to a level as low as reasonably practicable.
•Your confidence and expertise will be critical; we are looking for someone who can benchmark developments against broader industry standards and legal compliance.
•This role has no staff management responsibilities. You will be your own team, and will therefore be disciplined about managing your time to achieve the outcomes we seek.
•You will be responsible for our main liaison activity with clients, so we are looking for a natural, persuasive communicator.
•The role is in a unique environment in which you have the opportunity to develop and broaden your skills, dealing with site-specific and strategic issues relating to the electrical asset.
Qualifications, Training and Experience
•Chartered Electrical Engineer – recognised professional institution membership.
•Experience of electrical engineering in a railway environment – at least five years.
•Demonstrable familiarity with the main legal requirements for electrical
•Strong communication skills – capable and confident enough to work with senior industry representatives.
•Ability to provide authoritative advice to senior colleagues and explain complex technical matters.
•Ability to think strategically and take account of the bigger picture. Ability to act decisively – and make decisions that are evidence and experience-based.
•Demonstrate that can successfully manage a diverse workload to deliver business objectives.
•Clean driving licence.
