General Description:

We are currently seeking an Electrical Construction CRE with specialised skills in rail low voltage electrical installation to join our Rail Team in Scunthorpe to work with our existing construction team to deliver an expanding and exciting portfolio of rail telecommunications projects as part of an established Rail Business.

You will be part of a team responsible for the successful construction of electrical power infrastructure to telecommunications and radio equipment along with low voltage power installation for major clients including Network Rail Telecommunications, Network Rail High Speed, Transport for London, Merseytravel and other agencies such as Train Operators, Councils and Passenger Transport Executives.

Responsibilities:

  • The Electrical Construction CRE at ADComms will undertake the following responsibilities to support the ADComms Construction and Engineering department:
  • Production and self-checking of E&P installation Test and Commissioning Plans, Construction Plans and Installation Procedures within multidisciplinary rail projects.
  • Undertake the role of E&P CRE for Construction.
  • Undertake the installation, testing and commissioning of electrical infrastructure and equipment in accordance with approved designs and BS7671.
  • Manage a team of site installers (Contracted and/or core staff) at construction sites to undertake electrical installations in a railway environment.
  • Apply BS7671 and other railway standards to electrical power installation and testing.
  • Undertake the review of bills of materials for installations allowing parts and equipment to be ordered following design completion and undertaking product reviews to ensure all equipment ordered is correct and accounted for prior to installation.
  • Undertaking electrical site surveys / site visits in a railway environment across the UK and reporting on asset condition and suitability for installation.
  • Review and Approve Electrical Installation Certificates, Electrical Installation Condition Reports and Electrical Minor Works certification following electrical installation and testing.
  • Provide support to other construction teams when required which may involve telecoms cable installation and DC power installation works.
  • Able to recognise site and installation-based Hazards and experience in the production of detailed risk assessments and understand the procedures which must be adhered to when working on the railway environment.
  • Providing detailed information from site installations including redlined drawings and providing approval on site installations to be handed back to the client.
  • Undertake construction work to project plans, deadlines and milestones whilst maintaining high standards of work.
  • Sharing knowledge, best practice and innovation across our business, providing guidance, training and feedback with other related disciplines and skills, and supporting other members of staff in continuous improvement.

Competencies:

The Electrical Construction CRE at ADComms will be responsible for applying the following competences, skills and knowledge:

  • Competent in following electrical schematic drawings and undertaking installations based on electrical schematics.
  • Competent in the installation, testing and commissioning of AC electrical installations.
  • Experience and good understanding of BS7671 requirements for installation and testing.
  • Experience with undertaking electrical surveys at sites across the UK and producing detailed survey notes and drawings.
  • Experience and understanding of the UK rail communication and signalling network.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office software including Word, Teams and Excel.
  • Understanding of safe isolation practices and the correct procedures for confirming electrical disconnections on the railway.
  • Able to communicate technical detail clearly in verbal, written, sketched and drawn forms of communication.
  • Experienced with ISO and Network Rail Standards is desirable.
  • NICEIC (or other) Qualified Supervisor.

Desired Education Requirements

  • CG 2391 Electrical Inspection and Testing.
  • CG 2382 BS7671 18th edition.
  • CG 2357 Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (or other recognised Electrical Installation qualification).
  • ECS Cardholder.
  • Sentinel personal Track Safety PTS Cardholder.
