We are currently working with a reputable electrical engineering solutions company providing design, project management, installation and commissioning services to the rail electrification and electrical supply industry markets nationwide. This company are looking to expand their team by hiring an Electrical Design Engineer to join them in their York office.

This position reports to the Principal Engineer and is normally office based as part of the Design Team. The role is to assist in all design aspects of A.C & D.C Power Supply works.

Duties include:

• Preparation of technical specifications
• Creation of scheme designs
• Creation of scheme designs
• Carry out workout safely in accordance with applicable legislation, rules and standards, to specification, on time and within budget.
• Preparation of technical specifications for ordering of project specific material
• The technical review and verification of third-party design submissions.
• Liaising with the Engineering Team together with the Construction and Commissioning Team, as well as clients and suppliers.
• Preparation of Client technical queries, review / acceptance of response.
• Receive, and resolve site technical queries
• Creation and circulation of warning notices
• Revision of design to as-built status.
• Maintain daily diary of activities.
• Issuing and circulation of design documentation to project team, supplies, sub-contractors, and site.
• Report progress weekly and attend any progress meetings if required.
• Assist line manager in the ongoing review of the Design Team process and procedures.
• Lead / assist in the Design review process
• Lead / assist in the Design Risk review process
• Be pro-active in identifying and reviewing best practise and value engineering topics.
• Ensure activities comply with HSQE Policies, conform to contractual obligations and meet statutory HS&E regulations.

You will require:

• Understanding of Y01-AA-REG-0014 Legislative Acts & Compliance Obligations.
• Experience working on LV design projects in a consultancy environment.
• BNG/MNG in relevant subject.

 
As previously stated, this role is based in York so could also be suitable for candidates willing to travel from Harrogate, Leeds or Wetherby.
