Rowe Hankins Ltd. specialise in innovative train borne and wayside products for the world’s railways. We work closely with rolling stock manufacturers, fleet operators, track owners and infrastructure contractors for Light and Heavy Rail Vehicle projects.
About the Role:
The objective of the Electrical / Electronics Engineer is to drive the development lifecycle from concept through to customer acceptance; by ensuring the product and system requirements are captured in the design verification and validation exercises and further manage any changes or challenges during the development process. Main responsibilities, but not limited to:
• Determining and managing the requirements for Electronic Systems based on railway standards and customer requirements.
• Working closely with the test and commissioning teams, supporting the approvals process.
• Where required, supporting the design process/supplier selection.
• Producing and reviewing electrical and electronics designs to product and project requirements.
• Development of build and assembly instructions.
• Testing of electronics systems.
• Contribution to design reviews of systems with hardware and software engineers.
• Investigating and resolving complex faults (analogue and digital circuits).
• You will be expected to participate in customer facing design reviews, provide bid support and management for new products and technical support for contract reviews.
• Sometimes required to work in the field on installed systems (including rail environment).
Communication
• Communicate verbally or in writing with customers/ suppliers/ visitors/ prospects.
• Understand customer demands and expectations in line with the ethos of high standards of customer satisfaction.
• Build strong relationships with all departments within Rowe Hankins Ltd to ensure a good understanding of all relevant processes.
• Influence and support all departments as necessary to achieve required outcomes.
Teamwork
• Work closely with the Engineering team.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, managers and clients.
• Ensure that all deadlines are met in a timely manner and clients/colleagues are kept informed of progress.
The right Candidate will have:
• Proven experience of PCB design tools such as Ultiboard, Altium, KiCAD, CAD.
• Experience of analogue electronic design.
• Experience of digital electronic design in areas such as microprocessors.
• Experience of using own initiative, working unsupervised and managing own time and workloads.
• Excellent IT skills and can demonstrate problem solving abilities.
