We are currently recruiting for an electrician to ensure the safe operation and maintenance of the railway Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) system on the DLR. This role will support the E&M Team Leader and E&M Manager to ensure the safety of electricians and contractors and to continue to contribute to the safety of all staff
Key Accountabilities
- Support the E&M Team Leader to create a strong safety culture within the team, and ensure that the controls are implemented to meet the requirements of the Safety Case.
- Support the customer service culture in the Infrastructure team to place Keolis Amey Docklands at the leading edge in urban public transport customer service.
- To implement the electrical systems maintenance strategies and processes and ensure their delivery.
- To ensure electrical systems documentation is maintained.
- To assist in the development of the electrical systems.
- The Electrician works with the E & M Team Leader to implement the maintenance strategy within the electrical systems area.
- The jobholder is responsible for ensuring their own safety within the Electrical team, supported by the E&M Team Leader and E&M Manager.
- The jobholder supports the E&M Team Leader and E&M Manager in their responsibility for all aspects of maintenance delivery in the electrical systems area.
- The jobholder makes decisions on implementation of maintenance strategies.
- The jobholder is responsible for assisting the E&M Team Leader in making safety and technical decisions within the electrical systems area.
- The Electrician implements engineering and maintenance strategies within the electrical systems area. He or she is judged on the success in meeting committed operational and maintenance deliverables, and on softer factors such as drive, efficiency and attitude towards duties.
Essential/Desirable Skills/Experience
- The jobholder should be educated to C&G/ONC level, in an electrical engineering discipline, be conversant with the current edition BS 7671 and have good communications skills.
- He or she must be capable of communicating at supervisory level and operative level with equal clarity.
- The jobholder will require 5 years’ experience working as an electrician on electrical systems.
- A time served electrical apprenticeship is desirable.
- An understanding of railway maintenance procedures is desirable.
- Hold the appropriate Electrical C&G or equivalent qualifications.
- The jobholder will have the ability to work well on their own under minimal supervision.
- The ability to integrate with a highly motivated team carrying out the Engineering Directorates maintenance philosophies is an essential skill to the job.
- Confident and professional approach.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Hold a current UK driving license, complete FORS training.
