Purpose of the Job

The Training Specialist is a professional subject matter expert responsible for planning, developing, delivering and evaluating Rail for London Infrastructure maintenance training programmes, to enable the mobilisation of a competent workforce in 2018 and ongoing maintenance of competence thereafter. This roe will focus on the development and delivery of railway safety training to contractors and staff.

Principal Accountabilities

Develop training & assessment (including: eLearning, classroom learning and simulations) to ensure both organisational and individual needs are met.
Deliver and adapt training using a range of different interactive methods (including coaching & mentoring) to ensure the learner is at the centre of the learning process.
Undertaking accurate, reliable and fair assessments and development of competence action plans to ensure learners meet required standards.
Monitor technical compliance and continuous development of learners, assuring the maintenance and development of a high performing workforce.
Work closely with and provide support in order to meet the demands of the operating strategy
Manage the development and delivery of all RfLI safety training to either via direct delivery or via contract management, to ensure can safety access the Operating Section (CCOS) in line with the CCOS Rules.

Dimensions & Interfaces (both internal and external)
Key interfaces within the Operations Directorate are the Training & Competency Manager and the Maintenance Department, to ensure all organisation needs are met when developing and delivering training.

Person Specification
Competent to deliver railway safety training (eg, Courses listed on Sentinel)
Registered withed the National Skills Academy for Rail as the railway safety trainer (or equivalent)
Professional training & assessment qualifications are desirable (for example, certificate in the life long learning sector (CTTLS) or certificate in assessing vocational achievement (CAVA))
Knowledge in railway related engineering competencies, in particular railway maintenance
Knowledge of procedures relating to the competence management of Safety Critical Work
Knowledge of railways or other regulated industries
