Our client currently has requirements for 4 x Permanent Way Supervisors on a long term (potential 2 years) contract basis (In-scope of IR35) in the South East area.

Working mainly mid-week (some weekends) reporting to the Permanent Way Manager, the main responsibilities will be:

• Work in a safe and proper manner in accordance with current Railway Rules, Safety Management System and Regulations.
• Carry out the day-to-day supervision of the Permanent Way team, in conjunction with the Permanent Way Manager, and ensure the health, safety and welfare of staff within your control or jurisdiction, as far as reasonably practicable.
• Undertake inspections, maintenance, repairs and renewal works.
• Assist in the construction and maintenance of permanent way, track, platforms, buildings, bridges, culverts, drains and ditches, fences, roadways and paths.
• Maintain good relationships with colleagues in the Permanent Way team, external contractors and suppliers.
• Maintain records of work, as required by the Permanent Way Manager.
• Lead, direct and motivate staff within the Permanent Way team.
• Maintain all tools, plant, vehicles and other equipment of the Permanent Way Department, ensuring they are safe for use, returned to storage, and ready for the next job.
• Understand and comply with policies and procedures, particularly all those relating to Health & Safety.
• Lead by example and carry out work in a safe and diligent manner.
• Attend and fully participate in training and appraisal activities as required, and skills acquisition to support the role.
• Be prepared to work ‘out of hours’ and at weekends when required to do so.
• Undertake additional duties as required by the Head of Infrastructure & Engineering in line with capabilities as required.
