Contract
We’re looking for an Asset Engineer from an E&P background with an understanding of asbestos regulations, for a 12-month contract role with Network Rail, based in London.
As an Asset Engineer, you will:
- Act as focal point for best practise and technical advice in own specialist area.
- Support the delivery of activities required by Network Rail policy and standards specifically around asbestos management in Electrified and Plant assets, in compliance with asbestos regulations.
- Provide support for strategy, while identifying and prioritise actions to address defects and deliver corrective actions while undertaking risk analysis and developing mitigation plans.
- Monitor and evaluate technical and related asset data, while undertaking information management and record keeping.
- Support the E&P and has a detailed and practical knowledge of the asbestos regulations and can lead on developing both the decision support tools, risk assessments and OSSAMPs that are needed to create to meet the intent of the regulations and delivery of the plan.
- Upload information to Asbestos Risk Management System, particularly post-Year 2000 assets together with the associated evidence.
- Retrieve and check E&P asset data on Ellipse etc.
- Review asset information in ellipse and correcting inaccuracies or uploading updated information as appropriate.
- Arrange site visits for Asbestos contractors, arranging site access with NR maintenance and ensuring contractor invoices are accurate.
- Provide input into the production process of site specific OSSAMPS and liaising with Asbestos contractors as required.
- Be able attend site with contractors if necessary, attend NR-contractor meetings if required.
You will:
- Be an electrical engineer with a strong background in E&P.
- Understand the asset management environment.
- Have third rail experience.
- Have a technical or safety background with relevant qualifications in the field.
- Have a detailed understanding of asbestos regulations (ideally).
- Have a proven track record of developing and implementing solutions to address the requirements of the regulations ideally in a non-building or diverse asset application.
- Have an appreciation of project management and the ability to develop and monitor a programme of works.
- Have good MS Office skills, particularly with Excel.
- Have good communication skills (written and verbal).

Any rates of payment quoted will reflect the gross rate per day for the assignment and will be subject to appropriate taxes and statutory costs. As such the payment to the intermediary and your income resulting from this contract will be different.
