About us:

XEIAD is a Civil Engineering Consultancy specialising in Structures Asset Management Engineering and difficult access inspections of the Rail and Highway infrastructure with offices based across the UK.

Main Purpose:

To support the Structures Engineering Team in the efficient and effective provision of technical delivery and compliance with the contract technical specification and standards

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that safety is always the priority, promote safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with Key Processes and Safety Responsibility Matrix
  • Support the Technical Head - Rail in technical and engineering issues
  • Under supervision, undertake the process of engineering STE2 review and submission of examination reports within your region, including risk scoring and recommendations, in accordance with the contract specification and timescales
  • Take responsibility for your career development and competence progression, and be able to work with minimum supervision when necessary
  • As required, assist with investigations into any incidents related to structures examination activities and provide technical support and advice relative to these incidents
  • Ensure that the technical issues and best practice are identified and captured during the review / assurance process or report rejections
  • Attend and support technical briefings to the route examination teams
  • Help to develop our engineering systems, tools and processes so that we can drive efficiency and bring benefits to Xeiad and to Network Rail
  • Support and assist the route examination teams in order to ensure that technically compliant reports are produced in a consistent manner with minimal rejections
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with Network Rail, in order that their technical requirements are fully understood and implemented

Essential Experience, Qualifications & Skills

  • At least 5years rail structures experience or an experienced STE4 Examiner looking for career progression
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline (additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu on an individual basis).
  • Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Civil or Structural Engineer (additional relevant experience, qualifications or professional status may be considered in lieu on an individual basis)
  • Working under mentor supervision, take responsibility and directly undertake engineering reviews for all structure, material and report types in order to achieve STE2 competence
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • IT Literate (Microsoft Office)

Desirable Experience, Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline (additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu on an individual basis).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the key engineering processes and technical standards for delivering structural examinations on the rail infrastructure
  • PTS
  • STE6 Tunnel Examiner
