BIM Engineer in London, United Kingdom
To provide the delivery of CAD designs and BIM Project Data for the business, documentating information through design and into construction to achieve a cost efficient design to an agreed programme, enabling cost saving construction and on-time handover.
Responsibilities
• Provide high quality 2D/3D Drawings and Models as per clients procedures
• Strong 2D/3D MicroStation and good AECOsim abilities
• Maintainance of ProjectWise documents and local working environments.
• Understand and execute Building Imformation Modelling (BIM) protocols and Building Exections Plans (BEP)
• BIM co-ordination with client and other business departments.
• Co-ordinate drawings and models from design stage through to As-Built phase.
• Generate and Implement the companies local procedures.
• Check data output for integrity and accuracy.
• Have strong knowledge and skills in computer aided design techniques and Microstation 2D/3D CAD and associated CAD technologies - essential. Prior usage of AECOsim an advantage but not essential.
• Be conversant with and have a good knowledge of ProjectWise and be capable of maintaining a quality recording system for all 2D/3D data.
• Have a reasonable understanding of Building Inormation Modelling (BIM) and be able to implement the principles of any client designed BIM system.
• Ensure that all records are kept updated and documentation is in accordance with the company and Clients procedures.
• Perform Quality Assurance duties and implement techniques to ensure compliance where necessary.
• Responsible for the delivery of all drawing deliverables for multi-discipline design projects, from initial kick-off to issue of deliverables.
• Liaison with Clients, Sub-contractors/Suppliers and Contract Support staff as required.
• Ensure statutory/ company health and safety requirements are met, along with 3rd Party/other operator regulations.
• To show initiave when working alone and demonstrate good creativitive use of Bentley products withinn a controlled Quality Assurance led environment.
Education level and/or relevant experience(s)
• A degree, HND or equivalent in electrical, mechanical or Civil Engineering would be advantageous but not mandatory;
• At least 5 years' experience working in a high technology or civil engineering environment, preferably with site working experience;
• Minimum 3 years rail industry experience using BIM, specifically experience of CAD design processes for projects at design stage;
• Minimum of 3 years experience in a CAD/ BIM design role using Aecosim;
• Basic knowledge of health and safety.
• Staff should be aware of the limits of their competence and know what they can do;
• Know the company’s reporting procedures
• Able to work as part of a team;
• Must be able to read, write and converse freely in the English language;
• Be reliable and punctual;
• To work conscientiously in a high profile and demanding environment;
• Comply with the rules of the company Competence Management System;
• Helps to identify training needs of self and others.
