Bridge Engineer in Derby, Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom
BRIDGE ENGINEER
South Wales
"You will be working as a Bridge Engineer for one of the most high-profile Rail contractors in the region looking after a large Bridge Reconstruction project."
THE COMPANY
Originally formed in Wales, the Tier 1 contractor you will be working for knows the area like the back of their hand. That tied in with the fact they have one of the best reputations in the market for Rail Civil Engineering, they have continued to win high profile work from Network Rail and will continue to do so as they target steep growth through the next 5 years into CP6. A family orientated company, you will be held in the highest regard by everyone you come across be it a Supervisor or the Head of Rail. An "everyone knows everyone" type of environment, you are sure to feel at home working with their highly knowledgeable team of Civil Engineers working to deliver projects of various disciplines with Civils & Rail across South Wales.
THE ROLE
Unlike most Bridge Engineer positions you may see online, this role is not site based but in fact you will be in the office for 95% of the time writing all paperwork for a Bridge Reconstruction including Work Package Plans, Task Briefs, Method Statements and all Quality Assurance documents. Attending site on a very occasional basis to assess Quality, you are expected to have worked in a similar position before writing such documents from scratch as it is highly important to us the contractor that everything is completed to the very highest standard. The work wil run through until Christmas 2017 so you will be able to secure yourself a 10 month contract which in today's market can be particularly hard to come by.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal Bridge Engineer for this position is someone who has a large amount of experience working on Bridge Reconstructions for Network Rail projects acting in a similar role to the one required. You will have either a HNC/HND or Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and be happy working both on your own in an office or as part of a team, communicating with various parties where necessary.
THE PACKAGE AND HOW TO APPLY
The standard hours for the position are likely to be Monday to Friday during the daytime only. It is unlikely you will be required to work during the weekend for this position. The rate for this role will be between £280-£325 but for the higher limit, you will be expected to be able to demonstrate your knowledge and experience of this sector to the very highest standard.
