The consultancy arm of one of the UK s leading engineering organisations seeks to employ a charismatic, enthusiastic and proven systems engineering professional in the role of Chief Systems Engineer. With this in mind this leading brand see systems engineering as an essential element of the successful delivery of their projects and have built a team of 21 systems engineers and seek the Chief Systems Engineer to play a key role in them achieving their growth and success aspirations. This role can be based in Manchester, Berkshire, Bristol or London.

Reporting into the Head of Systems Engineering, the Chief Systems Engineer will be responsible for build strong and positive relationships with internal and external customers ensuring continued growth with the capability. You drive the delivery of existing assignments as well as identifying new business opportunities. As well as the growth of the department you will support the development of the systems engineering strategy, defining projects needs and then filtering down to the team.

Primary responsibilities

  • Implementing strategic and operational tasks as directed and required to ensure excellent leadership, motivation and sustainable growth of the systems-based approach capability team;
  • Supports analysis and technical planning of systems engineering activities at all levels of the total system product including concept, modelling, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal;
  • Planning, managing, supporting and delivery to the highest standards possible all system-based approach activities both directly and indirectly to ensure delivery within technical, schedule, and cost constraints;
  • Lead creation of Case Studies to capture problem(s) solved, value the systems-based approach capability team added and the wider benefits provided to the customer.


To be considered for the role of Chief Systems Engineer, candidates will ideally have a degree in systems engineering and be highly skilled systems thinking, systems engineering and integration. You will have a proven track record of establishing new business for systems engineering services and experience of developing new systems based teams and capabilities. You will be a client focused individual with the ability to build strong relationships with current and new clients. If you have experience of working in an infrastructure market this would be an added advantage but not essential.

In return you will be offered a starting salary of up to £90,000 accompanied with a car allowance, 10% bonus, pension, 25 days holiday and other associated benefits.
