Salary: £28-30k

Our client is one of the UK’s leading and most prestigious contractors in the rail industry and are very passionate about developing their employees into highly qualified professionals in their field. They are now looking for a promising Cost Engineer looking for a challenging yet rewarding career with them.

What we’re looking for:

Our client is looking for a Cost Engineer with a degree in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or the Chartered Institute of Building with relevant experience working on major projects in the rail industry.

You will have been based previously in a finance and commercial function within the rail, engineering or construction sectors.

You will need:

• Knowledge of finance systems
• hands on experience working for contractors as a CE on large civils or infrastructure projects
• Cost and budget administration
• Financial and commercial reporting
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

The Role:

You will be working alongside Contract Delivery Managers and Product Line Managers as well as clients and suppliers ensuring the smooth operation of the projects as a whole. You will be overseeing all financial aspects of the project from beginning to end and making relevant forecasts and risk assessments.

Your Responsibilities:

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Working with the SQS/QS to assist in the financial management of the project and carefully monitoring the budget.
• Ensuring timely cost collation, reconciliation and reporting of data.
• Supporting the project commercial team as necessary in the preparation of cost reports.
