The Company
This OEM World Leader designs and manufactures Rail and Commercial Vehicle Systems, and their customers are house hold names! Currently working on the UK’s Largest Rolling Stock projects!
The Ideal Candidate
You will be an experienced Software Engineer within the Safety Critical environment (Aerospace, Rail, Space, Defence or Automotive) developing Embedded software using C language. Working within a friendly team of twelve who all like to assist each other when issues arise, you’ll also be adaptable to resolving issues as soon as they arise, and a self-starter when managing your work load.
About the Position
Working within the lower end of programming of a safety critical environment, this role will see you developing software within the Brake Systems that are used on Trains. With an in-depth knowledge of serial communications in embedded real-time applications and demonstrate the use of configuration control tooling to provide version controlling to the embedded software. Once you are fully conversant in the systems, you will take ownership pf your product range with the customer.
The Requirements
- Degree in Software Engineering related subject or Computer Science or relevant experience.
- Have the capability to specify and implement network architectures and communication protocols.

Aurix micro controller based development experience a necessity.
- Willing to travel for short periods to support embedded software.
- Appreciation of developing safety-related software with appreciation of the EN50128.
- Significant experience in CAN Bus and Ethernet communications is highly desirable.
- Significant experience in RS232, SPI and I2C communications is highly desirable.
- Some experience in real-time safety related software development within a software quality process is advantageous.
- Have understanding or basic experience in different methods of white-box testing.
- C++.NET experience to allow creation or maintaining of test PC applications for embedded software.
