Fibre Acceptance Supervisor in Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom

As Master Supply Partner, PSR Solutions are proud to be working in partnership with the UK arm of this leading international and multidisciplinary infrastructure construction company, specialising in the development and delivery of key infrastructure projects across the globe such as bridges, roads, railways, fiber optic networks, cultural, social and educational living spaces.

Having worked on a number of the UK's most prestigious Major Projects and Alliance Partnerships (inc' HS1, HS2, Crossrail and Optical Fiber Deployment), they are seeing continual growth and opportunity in a pipeline of existing and tendered projects and Alliances.

They will be moving into the main construction phase in January 2022 on a 2-year Joint Venture to Design, Build, Operate and Maintain a High-Capacity Fibre Telecoms network, with a project value circa £30m and the opportunity of future works circa £100m, and have an imminent requirement for a Field Manager (Fibre) and Fibre Acceptance Supervisor among other positions in the next few months.

As the ideal candidate you will report into the Field Manager and have responsibility for:

  • To supervise the installation, testing, commissioning and acceptance of fibre cable installations including OTDR testing for install - undamaged and serviceable and post splicing testing.
  • To ensure the effective and safe running of the testing and commissioning aspects of the Network implementation. This will include the inspection and validation of any third-party works or assets being provided to the project.
  • Ensures that the work on site is delivered according to the approved, install quality, testing plan, to an exemplary level of quality and at the planned output rates.

Experience and qualifications will include:

  • HND/HNC in fibre optic Engineering/Electrical Engineering and Telecoms and/or:
  • Proven and successful track record (5+ years) in fibre optic engineering site management or a team leader role in similar role.
  • Fibre splicing experience and capability to splice & supervise U/G & Aerial splicing experience
  • Experience of Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) testing
  • Experience of Insertion Loss Measurement (ILM) testing
  • Industry standards, and testing practices.
  • Detailed knowledge of the construction site and construction methods, tools and materials
  • Understand budgetary control and resource allocation procedures.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written, communication, interpersonal and briefing skills.
  • Good interpersonal and time management and proven stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organisation and problem-solving.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft office.
