Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a Fleet Engineer on a contractual basis for the next 12 weeks (opportunity to go permanent) for one of our rail clients based in Birmingham.
The Opportunity
Our client is a global rail manufacturer who are seeking an experienced electrically biased engineer to undertake an interim contract to add value and support to a demanding project. You will play an integral part of the delivery of a safe and reliable fleet service, using your previous experience in fleet engineering you will be a technical focal point for engineering queries.
Location (s): Birmingham
Rate: £35ph
Role and Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and reporting of the fleet and materials performance and suggest methods to improve its reliability.
- Daily review of in-service failures and vehicle availability.
- Regular review of defective material to establish the root cause.
- Management of Safety Related Defects (SRDs), ensuring the project tracker and is maintained and updated regularly.
- Identification of modifications to improve fleet reliability.
- Manage and support the Engineering Change process.
- Produce detailed technical investigative reports on significant safety and technical faults.
- Utilise specialist measurement and monitoring equipment to aid in the diagnosis of on-vehicle faults
- Produce, manage, and update reliability and availability data to assist with the customer arbitration process.
- Work closely with the Production Manager to agree the priority of repairs, modifications and campaigns, providing supporting documentation as required
Candidate
The ideal candidate would need to have demonstrable experience working with rolling stock. You will need to have a strong understand of electrical systems and the maintenances activities involved to provide sound engineering solutions.
Essentials
- HNC/D or above in an Engineering related discipline
- Electrically biased
- Previous Experience in a Systems Reliability and Performance role.
- Rolling stock background
- Strong planning/organisational skills
- Leadership skills and the ability to motivate others to meet deadlines
