Fleet Engineer in Derby, United Kingdom

TXM Recruit are working with a leading Transportation business based in Derby to support with a key hire within their Fleet Engineering team.

Role Overview:
To provide professional engineering support to the 15X fleet of vehicles.  

Role Responsibilities:
  • Accountable for ensuring that all maintenance procedures are adequately prepared and provide the most cost effective regimes possible.  
  • Looking at continuous improvement of the technical performance of the regional fleet while ensuring that the fleet is maintained and operated in a safe working condition at all times.
  • To ensure that all maintenance manuals and associated documents are up to date, legible, concise and at all times provide the necessary information required to maintain the fleet
  • Ensure that adequate measurement exists for both train safety and fleet technical performance
  • Set up and monitor suitable KPIs for all key areas  and to control and review all safety related events that occur to the fleet and ensure that appropriate action is taken to maintain safe operation
  • Analyse statistical information and provide recommendations to improve technical and safety performance
  • Control all modifications and engineering changes and NIRs, ensuring that all relevant documentation and approvals processes are correctly carried out producing technical briefs as required
  • Prepare and submit investment case papers to support the performance improvements required to support the Class 15X fleet in terms of life cycle cost reduction and both technical and safety performance
  • Ensure that delivery of the full life care of the regional fleet is carried out including delivery of classified repairs and other mandated requirements, working with the ROSCOs to ensure best value from leases

Role Requirements:
  • Chartered Engineer, member of either the Institution of Mechanical Engineers or Institution of Electrical Engineers or qualifications leading to chartered status
  • Demonstrated experience of managing in a technical/development environment
  • Computer literate and familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Knowledge of R2, Gemini and other Rail Industry specialist applications
  • Good analytical skills coupled with a process driven method of working
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work across the group
