Fleet Reliability Engineer


I have an exciting opportunity for a Fleet Reliability Engineer to join a successful, dynamic Engineering team with one of the UK's leading Train Operating Companies.

You'll be joining a team of likeminded engineers/managers, who will provide bespoke support, guidance and opportunities to progress within the company. This dynamic, technical role will be predominately working remotely with the necessity to attend depots when required.

The purpose of this role is to use practical and technical skills to review, and investigate reliability issues affecting fleet performance and develop solutions within the engineering function to drive improvements.

Key responsibilities for this Fleet Reliability Engineer:

- Use practical and technical skills to review and investigate reliability issues affecting fleet performance, and develop solutions within the Engineering function to drive improvements
- Work with the Fleet Performance Analyst to lead the development of solutions for identified defect/failure trends, through the use of modifications, new technologies and processes
- Provide technical support to Production and Fleet Technical Services departments, including front line Skilled Service staff
- Take ownership of and manage performance improvement initiatives to ensure that the Reliability Improvement Plan and business performance improvement schemes are achieved
- Monitor, challenge and manage key suppliers to improve the reliability of critical systems

Experience required for this Fleet Reliability Engineer role:

- Have at least 3 years' experience in an asset maintenance role (while desirable, rail asset not essential)
- Experience of mechanical and electrical fault finding and repairs, and able to work under own initiative
- Qualified at least to Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics
- Highly motivated and proactive and organised
- Able to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal form
- Strong desire for continual improvement
- Good computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

- Salary: £48,000
- 37 hour working week with flexibility of WFH.
