A unique Geotechnical Engineer opportunity has come available for a well experienced engineer that specialises in geotechnical detailed design to work for an international multi-disciplinary consultancy in central Glasgow. You will be situated within a brand-new office, split over two floors that consists of a wealth of engineering knowledge.

You will be sat within a well experienced tight knit team of 20+ experienced geotechnical engineers giving you the chance to develop your analytical, commercial and project management skillset. Engineers on all levels gain exposure to all areas of project delivery and retention.

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will be developed within a wide range of sectors across Scotland/Ireland including; major buildings (private and public sector), ports & harbours, tunnelling, water utilities, rail, highway and oil & gas.

I am looking to speak with a Geotechnical Engineer that is currently developing/managing Desk Studies, GIR & GDR reports along with;

• Detailed geotechnical analysis and design including use of analytical software including Repute, WALLAP, Deep-EX, Plaxis (2D & 3D), Slope/W, Seep/W, Pdisp, Holebase, Leapfrog, and structural programs including STAAD and Tekla Tedds.
• Undertaking geotechnical calculations including pile design, pile group analysis, retaining wall design, shallow foundation design, settlement assessments, slope stability analysis and seepage analysis. Whilst having the ability to undertake hand and/or spreadsheet calculations using traditional soil mechanics formulae to cross-check / validate analytical computer outputs.

Geotechnical Engineer specification:

• First class degree in Civil Engineering / Geotechnical Engineering along with a relative MSc.
• Chartered or approaching chartership with the ICE
• Well rounded knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering and design principals
• Experience in the application of Eurocodes to geotechnical design
• Experience of geotechnical design of slopes, earthworks, foundations, retaining walls, embedded walls, piles / pile groups, soil nails, ground improvement, and other ground works.
• Detailed design of geotechnical works and production of drawings & technical specifications for construction.
