Role: Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Manchester

Duration: 10 months

Day Rate: £250 - £290 (Umbrella - Inside IR35)

Summary of the Geotechnical Engineer:

I'm currently looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to work for a tier 1 company on the Transpennine Route Upgrade on a long term contract basis.

Responsibilities for the Geotechnical Engineer:

• Be involved with design phase through to delivery.
• Work on geotechnical software.
• Analyse geotechnical structures.
• Produce reports for ground investigations.
• Detailed design of geotechnical works and production of drawings & technical specifications for construction.
• Participate in regular review meetings with the relevant teams, developing a pro-active focus upon client expectations and contract design delivery.
• Ensure that designs adhere to policies in line with business objectives, and ensure the company complies with legal requirements and best practice procedures.

Requirements for the Geotechnical Engineer:

• Degree educated in an Engineering discipline OR equivalent experience.
• Previous experience working on heavy civils and rail projects
• Experience working with rail clients including Network Rail and rail contractors.
• Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising planners, designers, engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance to less experienced members of the team.
• Experience of geotechnical design of slopes, earthworks, foundations, retaining walls, embedded walls, piles / pile groups, soil nails, ground improvement, and other ground works.
• Ability to meet challenging deadlines.
• Detailed design of geotechnical works and production of drawings & technical specifications for construction.
