HS2 - BIM Engineer / Coordinator in London, United Kingdom, Greater London, United Kingdom
We are working with a joint venture contractor who have secured a major works package on the HS2 project, they are looking to recruit a BIM Engineer / Coordinator to be based in their offices in Euston.
Key tasks and responsibilities
· Work in the Technical Team to support the project BIM Manager in the implementation of the BIM strategy on the project
· Promote the use of BIM across the project and encourage collaboration between the design and construction teams by using appropriate BIM processes, data and CAD techniques.
· Setup Data & Model validation/checking tools based on the project Information Requirements
· Ensure that incoming Graphical Information Models are compliant with the project Information Requirements and that the project team can access them efficiently.
· Liaise with key suppliers to confirm their ability to deliver the project Information requirements
· Work with both the Design and BIM Managers to input into the Project clash report and design/model progress tracker throughout the duration of Scheme Design
· Assist the BIM Manager during key meetings when required.
· Produce Specific Graphical Information models when needed to help the teams (Health & Safety, construction sequences, accesses, etc.)
· Engage and upskill the project team with regards to BIM tools and technology used on the project. (Produce guidance notes and provide training) Specific need regarding Bentley software packages (Navigator, Projectwise …).
· Keep an open mind and investigate advancements in technology and & BIM throughout the project
· Moving forward into the project, assist the project BIM Manager in the assessment/development of specific tools to improve critical constructability studies or health and safety issues in a BIM environment (AR/VR Technology, Asset Data Management tools, On-site BIM Tools, etc.)
Skills
· Proficiency in IT, numeracy and good written communication skills is a requirement
· MS Office (Microsoft Excel -advanced skills, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint)
· Able to adapt to multiple CAD/BIM software packages and familiar with data conversion and interoperability issues
· Ability to give group training sessions and deliver presentations
· Positive behaviour and don't hesitate to take initiatives
· Openness towards new technologies and ways of working, challenge current processes and propose solutions to improve them
Experience and technical knowledge
· HNC in Civil Engineering or similar
· Robust experience working on infrastructure projects (in the UK preferably)
· Bentley AECOSim expert user (applied in Civil Engineering. Good understanding of AecoSIM data management mechanisms)
· Experience with Civil CAD/design tools such as Bentley OpenRoads or Autodesk Civil 3D
· Bentley Navigator experience (Model review and clash detection)
· Experience with Bentley Projectwise (understanding of project workflows and key features)
· Experience with Synchro Pro is preferred but non-essential
· Autodesk experience preferred but non-essential
· Previous experience with Database Management tools (MS Access, MySQL, SQL Server, …) is a plus
· Awareness of programming languages and CAD/data automation tools (Dynamo, FME, Generative Components) and languages (VBA, .NET, Python) is a plus
· Understanding of key BIM concepts and standards (BS1192, PAS1192, etc.)
