P-Way Engineer
Location - Newcastle upon Tyne
My client is seeking a Permanent Way Engineer to join their team on a new rail depot project.
Duties
- Managing project deliverables in conjunction with the project manager
- Control on a detailed level of managing timescales and budget.
- Might be responsible for a specific work stream on a project i.e. surveying / line speed / S&C.
- Being responsible for more than one deliverable at any given time.
- Ensuring that their own time is managed to ensure meeting deliverable dates.
- Ensuring that QA is adhered too on a package deliverable level.
- Continuing Professional Development.
- Managing local resources within a team to ensure that junior Engineer / Technicians are utilised.
- Technical check of deliverables.
- Checking that compliance to Quality Procedures and Processes have been adhered too.
- Responsible for managing junior engineering staff
- Checking the integrity of data either by practical or theoretical means
- Provide technical assistance to the production teams
- Carry out the plan of work required by the senior engineer
- Carry out and record periodic checks in line with Company procedures
- Audit equipment used by the engineers to ensure calibration and certificated and ensure security and safety of such
- Produce and maintain all paperwork required in line with the job role and during the project life cycle
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- A supportive and encouraging approach to mentoring less experienced members of the team; and ability to adapt to different cultures and working environments.
- Significant demonstrable experience working within the Rail and Construction Industry
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a permanent way engineering role (Track renewals / maintenance, S&C, Plainline etc)
- An Engineering degree in a relevant subject.
- Incorporated Engineer status or evidence of working towards (desirable)
