Job title: Plant and Facilities Engineer
Job location: Derby
Hourly rate: £25.00 per hour Ltd
My client is a global leader in rail technology and delivers innovative products and services that set new standards in sustainable mobility. Their service offering covers design, development, manufacture and service of mechanical and electrical systems.
I am currently recruiting for a Plant Engineer to join the existing team at their Derby facility.
Role Responsibilities
-Supervise all activities related to the site mechanical plant and some construction activities in order to allow the site to reach high standards of safety, productivity, efficiency, quality and optimised cost.
-Supervise repair, operation, maintenance and directed Capex new works including meeting with and controlling contractors/ suppliers, auditing major facility contracts, selection of contractors and production of risk assessments with the aim of delivering safety and performance in line with business requirements.
-Monitor over 30 services contracts. The contracts are to be supervised in accordance with all current legislation, H&S requirements and company policy (to include pre-start meetings, day to day control of contractors and emergency callouts as required).
-Contribute to overtime and on call duties as agreed and emergency callout duties as required and any further duties as directed to assist others in Plant Team.
Required Qualifications and Skills
-Relevant experience in a similar role, dealing with MRO operations within the rail, manufacturing or construction industries
-Good understanding of manufacturing engineering, TPM, applicable legislation including HSE, CDM and LOLER.
-Health and Safety qualification NEBOSH - IOSH, Managing Safely or comparable experience in managing H&S issues.
-Lean and Six Sigma awareness, including knowledge of TPM, Project Management and Kaizen is an advantage.
-Sub-contractors' supervision skills.
-Good negotiation and presentation skills - involvement in contracts negotiations mainly with mechanical and construction sub-contractors.
-Analytical thought needed to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations.
-Good communication skills to work with other team members, contractors and site personnel at all levels.
-Computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office.
-CAD knowledge is an advantage.
