Principal Engineer (OLE)

About the role

We require a Principal Engineer (OLE) to join our Rail team to work in Prescot.

Role Purpose:

• To undertake all OCS engineering design activities within the limitations of responsibility categories defined in the Company Competency Matrix for D&ES group, in respect of both design and consultancy services
• To provide technical support and assistance to both junior and senior engineering colleagues.

What you'll be doing

As a Principal Engineer you will:

• Act safely and work to eliminate hazards at source
• Provide deliverables and a service that satisfies safety and quality requirements
• Produce calculations, drawings and supple the associated service
• Direct personnel as required
• Lead the production of investigations, reports and specifications
• Ensure activity is in compliance with relevant technical, professional and group standards
• Ensure project change is fully managed, implemented and recorded
• Ensure work is undertaken using formal processes and procedures
• Manage and records time and provides time and cost estimates for new projects/packages
• Define and manage change to scope of work
• Be the focal point for liaison with clients engineering representatives

Who we're looking for

Personal Qualities and Experience:

Essential:

• HNC with substantial experience or Degree Qualification
• Professional qualification preferred
• Awareness of Construction methods and materials
• Working knowledge of Group Standards /HSE Legislation
• Intermediate level of IT
• Knowledge of Engineering Drawing Practices
• Significant experience in the detailed facets of engineering for the electrification
• engineering
• Has dealt with and delivered the solutions to complex engineering problems and has experienced delivering these solutions in the design and build environment.
• Has experience in leading large teams to deliver projects
• Experience of developing processes and procedures.

Desirable:

• Achieving full membership of a Professional Institution within a year (if already not chartered)
• Experience in OLE design & construction
