Principal Engineer – Derby – Permanent - £50-£55K

Maclean Moore are partnered with a technical services company within the Rail industry who are leaders in vehicle and infrastructure testing. Yopu will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects including new vehicle type acceptance testing, investigations into existing vehicle and infrastructure service problems.

Due to a period of growth they are seeking a Principal Engineer to join their high performing and autonomous team of skilled engineers.

Role Responsibilities:

• Produce comprehensive technical reports detailing the tests conducted, results obtained and to make observations and draw conclusions.
• Monitor the performance of vehicles and components to ensure compliance with all relevant specifications, standards and safe operating limits.
• Identify faults and recommend solutions to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Implement relevant procedures and safe systems of work to comply with all regulatory and statutory obligations
• Plan, arrange and attend test activities including control of test instrumentation.
• Ensure work is conducted in accordance with relevant procedures and standards as appropriate.
• Identify any relevant instrumentation, data collection and analysis techniques to ensure that work meets customer requirements.
• Ensure that the measurement data chain is recorded, and that all equipment used is suitably calibrated.
• Verify the integrity of recorded data.
• Liaise directly with customers.

Required skills/Experience

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience
• Chartered Engineer or progressing to Chartered Status
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience of testing techniques, procedures and equipment, electronics and of instrumentation design
• I.T. literate with familiarity with Microsoft suite of products
• An ability to undertake analysis and interpretation of test data
• Project management experience
• Must be able to achieve full Personal Track Safety certification
• Full, clean driving licence required
