As Principal Highway Engineer you will be responsible for delivery of infrastructure schemes through the utilisation of effective project management skills, managing your team of Engineers & Technicians, whilst working collaboratively with other teams and clients.

Your role will include:

  • Managing a range of projects to ensure that they are completed to a high standard and within budget
  • Project managing and directing in accordance with Client requirements
  • Providing technical direction on projects, and high level advice on technical issues.
  • Responding to Client and customer requests and enquiries to ensure that their needs are met
  • Establishing new working relationships with professionals in Client partner organisations to actively sell other business sectors to Clients
  • Developing and mentoring staff in accordance with the Training Plan and the Company’s Career Development procedures
  • Being the Client’s primary point of contact for projects managed within your sector
  • Assisting with marketing and business development activity for the business unit, and develop new opportunities with existing clients.
  • Checking output produced by other staff such as reports or drawings, and its certification

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Chartered Engineer Status, or working towards
  • Degree or vocational equivalent in a relevant field and Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards
  • An excellent level of understanding of Highway, Transport and Traffic Engineering
  • A proven track record in project design delivery, and management
  • An excellent understanding of traffic and highway legislation e.g. TSRGD 2016, DMRB
  • Good financial and project management skills
