Principal Structural Engineer / Civils & Construction / Up to £50-60k / Nottingham

I am currently working with a leading UK Civils and Construction main contractor known for delivering quality and competitive foundations to all superstructures within the railway environment and across the industry.

We are looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to ensure that high-quality, innovative civil/structural designs are produced in accordance with the business and project requirement and liaise with all parts of the business to ensure that projects are co-ordinated, well-managed and delivered successfully. You will be reporting directly to our Technical Services Director and will responsible for a team of structural engineers.

Duties –

  • To manage, mentor and provide design/technical guidance to team members and other parts of the Aspin Group
  • Act as ‘Project Manager’, accountable for the successful delivery of the project
  • Act as CRE (Design) for rail projects
  • Act as designer, checker and approver (depending on competence) as required by the project
  • Prepare reports and co-ordinate the production of detailed AutoCAD drawings for issue
  • Complete site visits to carry out site inspections and investigations
  • Liaise with other Professionals internally and externally, including Contractors, sub-Contractors and Clients
  • Attend and contribute to both internal and external meetings
  • Develop good working relationships with others based on technical excellence, professionalism and openness
  • Organise all relevant method statements and risk assessments in accordance with Construction regulations and health and safety policies
  • Help drive the business towards their aims for BIM

  • Detail-orientated and sees big picture
  • Excellent communication skills

Qualifications required –

  • Driving Licence
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Chartered status is ideal but not essential
  • Understanding of Eurocodes and ability to design steel, concrete, masonry and timber structural elements
  • Broad experience of wider Civil/Structural solutions beyond rail
  • Personal Track Safety Certificate (PTS)

Location: Nottingham

Salary: up to £50–60K p/annum
