We are currently searching for a Principal Systems engineer to come and join us here at Aecom in one of our offices in the UK and focus on the Rail projects from a systems engineering perspective.
Aecom holds extensive knowledge in planning, designing and managing transportation systems — as well as restoring and replacing aging infrastructure — to help our public and private clients find smarter, more advanced ways to move people across cities, countries and continents.
Ideally, you will be a Chartered Engineer (or have started the registration process) with proven system safety planning and assessment experience and will work as part of the Rail Assurance and Advisory team.
Job responsibilities include:
- Developing System Safety plans
- Development of system definitions
- Deliver hazard identification and hazard analysis requirements using appropriate hazard analysis types and techniques
- Development of safety measures and option selections
- Development and delivery of safety documents as required to support customer requirements
- Evaluate the interrelationship of system safety requirements and aspects of system design and development requirements
- Develop statements of work and work packages with clients
- Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
- Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
- Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
- Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
- Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
- Prepares technical specification sections.
- Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Engineering degree or equivalent
- Have a working knowledge of and able to develop Risk Assessments
- Able to undertake HAZIDs/ HAZOPs and develop Safety Cases
Preferred Requirements:
- Chartered Engineer and member of a professional institution
- Railway Systems experience
- CSM-REA and TSI experience
- Knowledge of EN50126/8/9
