Role: Principal to Associate Chartered Structural Engineer

I am currently looking to place an experienced Structural Design Engineer of Principal or Associate level in a nation-wide structural engineering firms Birmingham office. The firm has worked on projects that value hundreds of millions of pounds, such as the Bullring Refurbishment in Birmingham, Victoria Gate in Leeds and Battersea Power Station. This is an excellent opportunity for a Principal Structural Engineer who is looking to develop themselves into an Associate-level role or an Associate who is looking for new challenges and opportunities.

The right individual will have a range experience of design using steel, concrete, timber and masonry alongside chartership with either the Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE). The role will feature managing the design and assessment of structures in a range of sectors, covering large-scale commercial and residential developments, hospital new-builds/refurbishments and some industrial structures. Any engineer with previous experience overseeing the design of hospital projects with a value over £10 million is also of special interest.

The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to lead their own team of engineers, alongside developing relationships with old and new clients. The right Structural Design Engineer will be able to handle themselves well with clients and stakeholders, ensure projects are delegated effectively whilst also maintaining technical excellence within their own design work. The role features room for rapid growth in a well-established structural design consultancy.

The applicant will be proactive and able to work well as part of a focused and driven team who strive for excellence and commit to positive, sustainable change within local communities whilst maintaining an awareness of project costs and who can self-manage when required.

Job Requirements

• Chartered Engineer status, ICE or IStructE
• Relevant education in Civil/Structural Engineering
• Experience of structural design using steel, concrete, timber and masonry
• Experience of technical, financial and project management of structural design projects
• Preparation of technical reports, drawings, specifications, budgets
• Experience leading teams of other engineers/technicians
• Experience of AutoCAD, STAAD, Tekla TEDDS, ETABS, Robot, PROKON, etc
• Experience managing clients/stakeholders
