Senior Engineer - Requirements


The Requirements Engineer assists bidding and delivery teams in the production of robust, traceable and agreed User and System Requirements documentation.
What are my responsibilities?
* Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, use cases, scenarios, task and workflow analysis.
* Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
* Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyse information needs, functional and non-functional requirements.
* Successfully engage in multiple projects simultaneously.
* Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the delivery teams through which requirements flow.
* Define and maintain standard templates for developing requirements specifications.
* Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language.
* Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
* Promote and assist in the enhancement of requirements engineering processes.
* Ensure that appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools are applied.
* Ensure products and projects are delivered in accordance with our clients Safety and Quality procedures and meet all applicable legislative, safety and customer requirements.
* Maintain and develop good relationships with internal and external customers, industry associations, suppliers and Partners.


What experience do I need to apply for this role?
* An engineering background with proven experience of requirements engineering within a control systems environment.
* Proven experience in using requirements management tools.
* Experience and knowledge of engineering processes at all stages of the engineering lifecycle.
* Strong analytical and influencing skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
* Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
* Chartered Engineer or working towards this status.
* Good knowledge of IT systems and software, especially Microsoft Office and Project.
* Excellent organisational, time management and problem solving skills.
* Full UK Driving licence.
