Senior Bridge Engineer in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
Based in the heart of Glasgow with good transport links to all areas of Scotland and the UK. We are now looking to enhance and grow the Glasgow Rail team with an individual with a sound technical background. You will be keen to share your enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload.
The Rail Bridge team workload includes assessments, inspections, feasibility studies, outline and detailed designs on a wide range of bridges and associated railway infrastructure schemes. The bridge team also help with local, national and international work with a variety of clients both from the public and private sector including design & build partnerships with contractors.
We are currently looking for an experienced individual with substantial experience in Civil and Structural Engineering Design, and ideally with a good knowledge of Network Rail delivery processes.

Aberdeen to Central Belt – Route Clearance for Electrification

Northumberland Line – Freight to Passenger route development

Far North Lines – Route development study.

Network Rail Works Delivery - Longitudinal Timber Replacements & Minor Works

Dalcross Loop & Station Upgrade
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide support to team/project leaders in delivering bridge inspections, assessments and outline and detailed
design
- Reliability in being able to manage your time efficiently and to support other junior staff with technical
design/assessment applications

Producing technical reports
-
Co-ordinating the production of design drawings
-
Implementation of health & safety and wellbeing best practice in the delivery of all works
Minimum Requirements
You will have a desire to learn, and enjoy the responsibility for the quality of deliverables and be able to work effectively as part of a team. Experience with a good knowledge of Network Rail delivery processes. Skill & Experience in Structural Finite Element Analysis.
It is essential that you have a good understanding, knowledge and technical ability in structural analysis. It is anticipated that you would wish to progress to Chartered Membership of a recognised Professional Institution and AECOM offers a training scheme to support you with this.
Preferred Qualifications
You will have proven experience in the design of transportation structures, checking and assessment experience would be a strong advantage. You will also have demonstrable experience in the management of small teams. Chartered or Incorporated with the ICE or good progression towards accreditation. Experience and knowledge of CDM Regulations and Construction Techniques. Previous Railway and/or Highway bridge design experience.
