We are currently dealing with a major infrastructure consultancy with a global presence, looking to expand their engineering team in Birmingham by recruiting a Senior Highways Engineer.
The role of a Senior Engineer in Birmingham will include aspects such as design and management of projects for public and private clients, including Highways England and Local Councils. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, as leading a team as well as mentoring and developing junior staff is also a major responsibility of the role. The individual must also have experience in DMRB and MCHW practice, as well as an understanding of BIM practices.
Working as a Senior Engineer, you will be required to design models in accordance with the companys BIM manual, using your knowledge of 3D Design Software such as AutoCad, OpenRoads or Civils3D will be of great benefit. Alongside using these softwares, you will also report and communicate to Principal Engineers and other company staff members on project development and arising problems.
Furthermore, a key responsibility of the Senior Engineer is to mentor and develop junior staff in the preparation of layout schemes using AutoCad, as well as share knowledge in the interpretation of the DMRB, MCHW and other appropriate standards.
As previously mentioned, this role is based in Birmingham, so working from home under COVID restrictions will apply. However, once the office is open they will still operate a flexible working approach.

Job Requirements:
- A degree or HNDS/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Ideally Chartered or Incorporated/working towards this
- Minimum of 5 years experience in civil engineering design and delivery
- Knowledge of DMRB and MCHW
- Knowledge of AutoCad, Civils3D, OpenRoad and other relevant design tools
- Capable to lead and manage a team and report to other staff members
