We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior P-Way Engineer, reporting the Head of Track, where your primary responsibility will be offering track design specific support to the successful delivery of multidisciplinary projects throughout their lifecycle, and providing scope and resourcing for tender proposals, acting as the lead track engineer.
The role is varied and will involve:
Whilst the role will be technically focussed, you will demonstrate your understanding of commercial and programme implications for ensuring delivery of projects on time and to budget. Additionally, you’ll have line management responsibility for a small team of Engineers and will ensure that issues ranging from staff development, performance management, performance development reviews and staff welfare are managed. Your experience as a Permanent Way/Track Design professional will insure that you are proficient in using software such as Bentley Rail Track and Microstation packages. You are able to focus on safety and safe by design as well demonstrate track design experience covering a wide range of interfaces such as formation design, interface with structures, stressing design and drainage design. You’re proficient at track alignment design as well as switches & crossings design and specification including complex layouts. You have the ability to undertake the role of Checker for other works and are able to demonstrate your understanding of Railway Group Standards and UK Company Specific Standards such as Network Rail/ LUL including project assurance requirements. Additionally you are able to scope and manage gauging survey and analysis from ClearRoute as well as understand responsibilities of CDM, CSM-RA and associated risk management systems.

- Leading design engineering activities, providing technical support to existing projects
- Providing technical support and guidance to bidding teams to secure future works
- Being able to undertake CRE level duties and principal technical support on projects
- Contributing to the successful performance of the existing track teams
- Assisting teams in our European offices to deliver projects in the UK and globally as required
- Undertaking line management responsibilities for early career professionals and experienced members of the team

You will also be able to demonstrate the following:
- A Batchelors degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar
- CRE level experience demonstrated in existing or previous projects
- Experience working for an engineering consultancy within the rail sector, ideally in the UK
- Experience working on multidisciplinary/major projects with an understanding of interface management
