My Client has a notable track record in the transportation sector, stretching over more than a century. We are currently involved in a number of major transportation projects.

Our Systems engineering team is skilled in developing and implementing practical Systems engineering approaches tailored to suit projects of any size, complexity or lifecycle stage. These services are increasing being offered to other parts of The Company that work in industries outside of rail and transportation.

Our work covers requirements management, interface management, systems architecture, system integration, life-cycle models, verification and validation, and other systems engineering processes.

The job will be primarily based in our Croydon office though may involve being located in project offices in the central London area.
Although much of the work will be office-based, there may be some opportunities to get involved with construction, testing and commissioning work

Our Systems team, that you would be part of, is working on projects in the UK but also gets involved in international projects currently from Australia, USA and Canada.

Job Description

We are currently involved in a number of major projects in various sectors, such as transportation, energy and power and industry development. Our System Engineering and Assurance (SEA) Business Stream is now looking for a Senior RAMS engineer.

You will report directly to the Team leader in my Clients System Engineering and Assurance (SEA) Business Stream.

The team needs a Systems engineer with experience of developing and implementing systems engineering in rail or other industries.

We will be looking for a colleague that match the below:

Be enthusiastic about applying Systems engineering to projects and have a systematic and logical but creative approach to problem solving.
We need you to have the ability to work independently, take the initiative, decide on solutions and work to tight deadlines to meet client needs.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and should be able to liaise with external customers and colleagues across The Company. There will be some travel in the UK and possibly abroad for short periods of time.

The role is based in Croydon with likely day-to-day working from a client office in central London. There will be the possibility of visits to site.

Candidate Specification

You will need to have most of the skills listed below:

Essential academic, professional qualifications and experience:
Qualification in a suitable engineering discipline
Several years' relevant professional experience
Experience of implementing Systems Engineering approaches and methods on projects
Experience of using Systems Engineering tools and techniques (e.g. DOORS)
Be a Chartered engineer or in the process of becoming Chartered.

Essential competencies / skills:
Able to demonstrate application of Systems Engineering approaches and methods on projects
Good report writing, team working and communication skills

Desirable academic, professional qualifications and experience:
Degree in a suitable engineering discipline
Qualification in Systems Engineering
Member of INCOSE
Experience of Systems Engineering applied through full project lifecycle
Experience of working in the rail industry for a design consultancy
Some experience of design, production, installation and commissioning of engineering systems

Desirable competencies / skills:
Bidding, commercial and project management experience within a consultancy.
