Senior Systems Engineer
Location - Birmingham
Salary - £70-72,000 per annum on a 12 month rolling contract
My client is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to work with one of the biggest rail projects in the country. The role is paying a salary of in between £70-72,000 per annum dependant on experience on a 12 month rolling contract.
Accountabilities:
Manage and guide the area teams Civil and Rail Systems PSCs delivering the MML design, drawing on expertise from within the project to deliver a design that meets the client requirementsEngage with the development directorate and the Infrastructure (ID) along with the internal stakeholders to deliver a level of assurance appropriate for the MML designs at hybrid bill stage.Lead the provision of expert technical and engineering input from a railway systems perspective to support the Hybrid Bill design through parliament including additional provisions, freedom of information requests, and technical requests.Ensure the Hybrid Bill designs for the project, specifically MML, meet the requirements of the 'end state' railway in terms of functionality, operability and reliabilityWork with Civil and Rail systems PSCs as well as the interfacing parts of the project to deliver an integrated system that supports the Train Service Specification.Identify, assess and manage project wide design risksIdentify opportunities to reduce capital cost and whole life cost and progress these through to realisationKnowledge required:
Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering or relevant industry experienceChartered engineer (or equivalent relevant experience).Extensive knowledge of railway operations / engineering design principles required to achieve optimal design outputs.Detailed knowledge of conventional railway systems and an appreciation of High Speed railway systems and their differences.Working knowledge of Systems Engineering Principles including Requirements Management, RAMS, Systems IntegrationWorking knowledge of the Technical Specifications for Interoperability and relevant Notified National Technical RulesSkills and experience required:
Ability to carry out robust independent checks on a wide variety of designs and produce, interpret and assess specifications, standards and technical reports.Ability to resolve complex design problems, demonstrating a tenacious approach to tackling problems whilst maintaining attention to detail.Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with a range of multidisciplinary stakeholders, demonstrating excellent influencing skills.Ability to communicate, engage and influence a variety of stakeholders through working within a matrix organisation.Strong written and spoken communication skills, strong interpersonal and influencing skills.Strong team management, planning and organisational skills, and the ability to deliver under pressure to meet tight deadlines whilst gathering input from other functions.If this is something that interest you than apply now or contact Sam Wilson on <phone number removed> to discuss further.
