Specialist Engineer SCADA in Leicester, Leicestershire, United Kingdom

My client a leading contractor to the rail sector require a Specialist Engineer with a focus on SCADA to join their CIS business unit on a permanent basis at their Leicestershire office.

As the Specialist Engineer (SCADA) working across product and solution lines covering SCADA and telephony systems, communication networks, and cyber security solutions, you lead the specification, development and deployment of solutions within the business and continually refine best practice. Working from across the full project life cycle, solutions will promote maximum re-use of previously deployed applications. You will also assist the bid and engineering teams in their need to offer and provide cost effective systems.

As a secondary option, this role can also be based from any of the following locations; York, Manchester, Chippenham, Croydon or Glasgow.

What will be my Responsibilities?

Your responsibilities within the role are as follows;

  • Act as Lead Engineer on SCADA projects.
  • Provide technical support for SCADA Projects within the business.
  • Work in conjunction with Subject Matter Experts to determine the most appropriate compliant and cost-effective options for deployment to projects.
  • Provide Engineering support during the bid process, ensuring maximum re-use of previously deployed solutions.
  • Provide estimates for engineering projects and tenders with regard to resources, plans, technology, risk and process.
  • Ensure the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools are applied throughout the engineering life cycle.
  • Deliver assigned activities within agreed timescales and budgeted costs.
  • Ensure products and projects are delivered in accordance with company Safety and Quality procedures and meet all applicable legislative, safety and customer requirements.
  • Maintain and develop good relationships with internal and external customers, industry associations, suppliers and Partners.
  • Maintain and develop own professional competence.

Experience required for this opportunity;

  • Extensive experience of delivering complex projects to the Rail SCADA market.
  • Proven success leading a team of engineers to design and deliver complex systems.
  • Proven experience in the use of requirements management tools.
  • Proven experience in the use of configuration management and change control tools.
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent status.
  • Experience and knowledge of engineering processes at all stages of the engineering lifecycle.
  • Proven experience providing estimates for engineering projects and tenders.
  • Good knowledge of IT systems and software, especially Microsoft Office and Project.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and problem solving skills.
  • Full Driving licence.
