Sprinkler engineer/ pipefitter in Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom
Role:
The role of the sprinkler engineer / pipe fitter is installing, building ,repairing and maintaining sprinkler systems, ensuring that materials flow between an origin and their destination safely and without any leaks and are complaint with relevant standards.
The sprinkler engineer is generally responsible for a smooth operation of the pipework, and must be able to understand construction drawings, full hydraulic calculations and install pipes correctly. The sprinkler engineer must have in depth knowledge of British standards and the LPCB 1048 scheme.
Preferred Skills
Inspect worksite to determine presence of obstructions and ascertain any weaknesses
Plan installation or repair work, avoiding obstructions
Cut, thread, bend and Connect pipes
Install and assemble a variety of metal and non-metal pipes, tubes, and fittings
Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment
Increase pressure in pipe system, observing connected pressure gauge, to test for leaks in the system
Observe production machines to detect machinery malfunctions
Collation and submission of all evidence of works - engineers reports / test results / picture evidence
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
Working knowledge of UK fire protection standards including LPC Sprinkler Rules incorporating BS EN 12845, BS 9990, BS EN 15004, BS 5306, DD 8458, DD 8489
Proven installation experience.
Organise your time and prioritise tasks efficiently
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, design drawings, hydraulic calculations and models.
City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, specialising in pipefitting and assembly

Hours & Environment
Mainly Site-based, but required to attend some meetings to the office or logistic centre.
Most of the time you will work a relatively standard week. But, as an important handover deadline approaches, you may be doing long hours / weekend works.
