Technical Head of Permanent Way, also interested in Technical Design CEM's

£70,000 - £83,000 negotiable on experience plus car / allowance and package

Company Information:
Working with a principal contractor for Network Rail my client is seeking to appoint a Technical Head of Permanent Way to develop a in house Permanent Way team.
To be suitable for the position you must have;
- Substantial knowledge of the key activities and risks associated with the design, planning and implementation of Permanent Way works including track installation design and methodologies.
- Good experience of Delivering permanent way projects for a main contractor.
- Expereince managing and mentoring a team.
- A minimum of a HNC in a relevent subject Civil Engineering etc (ideally degree qualified)
- Worked as a (Design)CRE or CEM
Although not essential it would also be advantageous if you have;
Chartered Membership to the Permanent Way Institution
Role Information;
- Produce/amend, as appropriate, procedures with regards to the management of Permanent Way
- Provide advice and support to project teams (including at tender stage) undertaking Permanent Way related works; specifically undertake peer reviews of track installation design and methodologies
- Ensure regional teams have an awareness of the key activities and risks associated with the design, planning and implementation of Permanent Way works.
- Develop ongoing channels of communication with the regional teams and develop a system to identify when Permanent Way works are taking place
- Maintaining central relationship with our Permanent Way supply chain to ensure the client has the right suppliers in the right regions.
- Recruiting a workforce with appropriate competencies and experience for the work being undertaken.
- Mentoring of Track CREs and Track Handback Engineers
- Ensuring the competency of Track Handback Engineers
- Be Responsible for maintaining the Track Handback Competency register
- Ensure the management of CRT takes place and that the process is reviewed
