Main Purpose of the Role
To support the Head of Customer Technical Support to ensure that customer engineering needs are identified and supported for a wide range of products and services within national and overseas markets.
This role is customer facing with responsibility to make engineering/technical decisions on behalf of the customer within the business and is expected to evaluate and mitigate risk at an appropriate level in line with company process and procedures.
The role is a supervised one that allows independent thought and problem solving in a reactive and proactive way.
The role carries a responsibility level in line with a safety driven railway culture and customer base and the jobholder is answerable for their actions / consequences however the majority of workload is customer generated and jointly risk assessed as projects.
This role is creative and diverse requiring a lot of flexibility to adapt to different customer requirements and is reliant on using data and analytics to find the best solutions the range of activities are spread across a wide range of skills Inc. bid support to complex technical investigations of components and parts, and managing customers’ expectations and demands on a daily basis.
This role has to be flexible in line with customer demand for support across the UK targets and deadlines have to be achieved and a high level of quality of work is required. This role requires travel and individuals are responsible for suitable breaks being taken and ensuring health and safety of the individual all extended travel will be covered by suitable work timescales and accommodation if required
This can be a pressurized role due to customer demands and timescales however some duties can be shared with the team and regular line manager discussions are always available. The role demands working confidentially and using sensitive data. Individuals have a large degree of trust and are measured on capability and competence using company standards and process.
Qualifications & Education
Relevant Engineering qualifications or equivalent experience – Minimum HC/HND level
