We are currently working with one of the UKs leading consultancies within the rail industry who are looking to expand their multidisciplinary design team by hiring a Rail Telecommunications Engineer for either their Manchester or Birmingham office. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to deliver design commissions to some of rails major clients either by dealing on single large project or split between multiple smaller opportunities, such as the Trans Pennine Route Upgrade, Headbolt Lane, Liverpool Central and Portobello Junction LDO.
On a regular day you may be involved in various projects ranging from consultancy and advisory, enhancement schemes, larger resignalling schemes, new build, and station upgrades. Additionally, you will be providing telecoms advice and design content to external clients and rail design team colleagues, typically within the GRIP Stages 2-8 and RIBA stages 2 through to 6.
The successful candidate will also manage their own development tasks to include Career Development, Personal Development Plans and Training.

As mentioned, this role can either be based out of the Manchester or Birmingham office, with the opportunity for Hybrid working and would therefore suit candidates in the surrounding areas (such as Derby, Bolton, Solihull, Stockport, or Warrington). Job Requirements:
- Relevant Technical Degree (e.g., Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics, Systems Engineering or equivalent) - Essential
- Working towards or have achieved a professional qualification (e.g., CEng/IEng) - Essential
- Hold membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IET/IRSE) Desirable
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of Operational Communications within the UK Rail Sector
- Able to demonstrate proficient experience of Telecommunications systems design with an emphasis on telecommunication networks and equipment
- Thorough working knowledge of Network Rail Standards
- Experience in working in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience working in virtual design teams
- Have experience in ensuring smooth transmission of data by configuring networks that fulfil the objective of the organization.
- Experience in monitoring systems for required capacity planning and performance adjustments as necessary and acting upon findings.
