My Client, a Tier 1 Global Contractor within the Rail industry who specialise in Signalling is currently recruiting for a Telecoms Support Engineer to be based out of either Birmingham or Derby office due to recently securing a large framework project in the Eastern region.

Role

To assist with improving of the technical performance of the signal systems business.

Key Requirements

  • Undertake internal and technical investigations.
  • Audit Signal Systems' departments, sub-contractors and suppliers on technical compliance with relevant Group, Company and SSL standards
  • To attend technical brief as and when required and onward brief at team brief.
  • Assist in producing Installation task sheet.
  • Act as technical contact and liaison with clients and sub-contractors.
  • Undertake testing and commissioning activities
  • Produce technical reports.
  • Undertake quality inspections/ audits
  • Assist in carrying out risk assessments.
  • Assisting in Project Engineering schemes.
  • Keep IRSE logbook up to date.
  • Manage/ control sub-contractors in line with programme and costs.
  • Review new/altered standards and consider the impact on the Signal Systems business.
  • Work with clients to resolve outstanding technical issues.
  • To provide technical support as a telecoms consultant on allocated contracts or projects.
  • Act as assessor verifier for competence assessments. Deputise for Principle Support Engineer.
  • Provide technical input to the tendering process.
  • Act as CRE where required and participate in IDC's
  • Production and reviewing of design documentation.
  • Produce Telecoms Test Strategies and plans and compile test results.
  • Motivate staff.

Essential

  • PICOT experienced
  • Computer literacy.

  • HNC level education in an engineering discipline.
  • Valid PTS
  • Driving License
  • IRSE Telecoms license in Team Manager or Project Engineer.
  • Experience of working in telecoms design, testing or installation at a managerial level.
  • Awareness of railway construction methods and materials used.
  • Good knowledge of telecoms principles and client standards.

Desirable:

  • Professional qualifications, AMIRSE and IEng.
  • COSS
  • Engineering Manager (Engineer) (6.8.105) IRSE licence
