As the Company's Southern Projects team continues to grow, we have vacancies for Test & Commissioning Engineers with experience of Telecommunication systems utilised at railway stations, including OPO CCTV, Wireless Access Points, Leaky Feeder, Networking, PA, CIS, Access Control and many more.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering (South) / Test & Commissioning Manager, you will work as part of a multi-skilled technical team, with responsibility for undertaking all technical aspects of the delivery of design packages and implementation of system designs for the Telecommunications projects. You will be responsible for the Test & Commissioning and Handover aspects of the technical solution for systems being installed, and conduct the required setup, configuration, witness testing and handover into operational use.

The role will involve interpreting detailed design information of railway infrastructure and successful test, commission and integrate various Telecommunications systems. The role will include the need to support site teams with onsite Day and Night visits to address site enquires during survey and Test & Commissioning processes.

• Installation and connection of equipment to defined standards and specifications.

• Dressing and termination of cables and connectors in accordance with Specification and Standard.

• Gathering of detailed survey information through photographic, video or report written evidence to support design and handover processes.

• Integration techniques required to ensure individual systems can be configured into a single integrated solution.

• Fault finding experience to narrow down performance and system errors to ensure a quick resolution can be found and mitigations implemented.

• Able to direct and take ownership of onsite Test and Commissioning activities.

• Able to work as part of a dynamic team, as well as demonstrating individual drive and ownership of allocated tasks.

• Conduct witness testing with various stakeholders at key project milestones such as FAT, SAT and SIT.

• Completion of test specifications with notes of recorded improvements and good management of change control.

• Support the culture of continuous HSE improvement.

• Attend training events at Company's premises and those of third-party training organization.

• Capable of working to tight project time scales whilst paying attention to detail, and act comfortably under pressure.

A good understanding of Comms, electrical & mechanical regulations.

Experience, skills and qualifications

• Preferably a HNC or degree in an engineering or telecoms related discipline.

• Rail Test & Commissioning experience of at least four years (preferably more) of the following station communications systems: OPO CCTV, security CCTV (Analogue and IP), Wireless Access Points, Leaky Feeder, Clocks, CIS, PA, or other elements such as CRMS and Civils installation.

• Preferably (but not essential) experience delivering telecoms related projects into a Rail or Metro environment.

• Ability to effectively direct others in the implementation of Test and Commissioning activities in a safe and controlled manner.
