Role content and overview:
Common Data Environment (CDE) is Tideway's system for the exchange, review, and acceptance of documentation with its main contractors, and for the exchange of contractual communications related to contracts worth up to £2bn.
The CDE is a business-critical system with a wide user base across the organisation. In order to maintain a high level of knowledge about the CDE system within the business, and to ensure that new joiners understand when and how to use the system, a full-time CDE training manager is required. The role will involve managing all aspects of CDE training across the business, including content development and the regular delivery of classroom-based training to CDE users in all roles.
Responsibilities:
- Training Design & Delivery
- Identify training and development needs amongst CDE stakeholders through role analysis, user feedback, and regular consultation with business managers and HR
- Establish and operate a regular calendar of CDE training courses relevant to new joiners to the business as well as established users of the system (new user and 'refresher' training)
- Manage training logistics effectively, taking responsibility for booking facilities, sending invitations, communicating with delegates, managing attendance, and ensuring equipment is in place when and where required
- Design and deliver targeted, role-based training to ensure users have the knowledge and skills to use the CDE system effectively, and assess the quality and effectiveness of training post-delivery
- Training Materials
- Own all relevant CDE training materials including lesson plans, training manuals, quick reference guides, video tutorials, training processes, training environments and data
- Maintain/update all relevant CDE training materials as required in line with potential future system enhancements, platform-level changes, or changes to relevant business processes
- Ensure changes to training materials are approved by the relevant business stakeholder(s) or groups
- Publicise/communicate updated training materials via appropriate communications channels
- Training Administration
- Engage with Human Resources to ensure that all new joiners are identified and offered appropriate CDE training
- Maintain and schedule of regular CDE training sessions and publicise available sessions to the business
- Develop, implement, and own all training management processes and procedures including requesting and accessing training, approving training requests, issuing joining instructions, assessing and carrying out post-training activities
- Maintain a register of CDE users and training courses they have attended, including a log of all training requests and their fulfilment dates, along with a database of training outcomes/assessments
- Provide regular reporting to business stakeholders on training request/fulfilment volumes, training outcomes, use of supplementary training materials, feedback and any other relevant training statistics
- Engage with internal CDE stakeholders and the system supplier to maintain an understanding of potential future developments of the system and their impacts on training materials and courses
Key interfaces:
CDE Subject Matter Experts, IS Service support team, CDE User Forum, and other stakeholder groups to be agreed
Experience:
- Experience in end-to-end development and delivery of complex systems/process training, in a variety of formats, demonstrating successful training outcomes
- Experience of working in a complex project environment with multiple organisations and stakeholder groups
- Experience of large construction/engineering projects managed via NEC3 strongly desirable
Skills and competencies:
- Excellent training development and delivery skills
- Knowledge of training development/delivery best practices for cross-functional environments
- Excellent communications and relationship building skills
- Ability to clearly articulate detailed messages for a variety of audiences
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Team player able to work collaboratively and effectively with and through others, at all levels in an organisation
- Knowledge/experience of Asite Adoddle and MS SharePoint an asset
Education and qualifications:
- Degree Qualified
- A relevant training qualification is desirable but not essential
