Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a General Foreman to join our Regional team to work in Reading.
Role Purpose:
- To provide supervision of the works and control of a team comprising Foremen , Gangers and direct labour force;
- Supervision and control of the works of Subcontractors.
The Project:
The Contract involves the design and construction of a new station, bus interchange and car park adjacent to a new residential development, Green Park Village in Reading. The vaule of the project is approx £14 million.
The works will involve:
- Earthworks
- Roadworks
- Drainage
- Utility diversions
- Platform construction
- Building works (station building)
As a General Foreman you will:
- Input into the production of Work Package Plans and Risk Assessments;
- Provide suggestions and recommendations for Temporary Works solutions;
- Identify potential hazards and proactively implement actions and controls;
- Carry out Independent Inspections of their own section and of others;
- Ensure that the workforce / Gangers have sufficient and correct information in terms of specification, workmanship and finish;
- Ensure that all Non Conformance's are reported as required.
Who we're looking for
You will:
- Be able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately;
- Be capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes;
- Have a strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights;
- Be able to work on your own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility;
- Hold a current driving license and valid CSCS Card;
- General civils + rail experience (PTS Card)
- Be a good team player, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT skills
