Our client currently has an opportunity for a Bid Manager to join their team in Surrey on a permanent basis. The role will be responsible for preparing Costing and Submission documents to respond to Customer enquiries. Coordination between the Business functional departments to ensure they respond both in a professional and timely manner to all enquiries.
Principal Responsibilities
- Responsible for the preparation of Bids and Tenders for the company to include: Prepare risk management survey of the tender opportunity. Interpretation of Customer requirements and development of appropriate bid strategy. Timely planning and completion of Expressions of Interest, Pre-Qualification Questionnaires, Bid Documentation and Quotes as required by the Business
- Preparation of detailed Budget Costings to support Submissions and Presentation of Submissions for review and
- acceptance by Bid Review Panel. Responsible for reviewing bid submissions for quality and accuracy;
- Engagement of Departmental resource as required to support Submissions. Identifying opportunities to enhance and improve the process, whilst sharing best practice with the team.
- Customer interface for ongoing Bids and follow up of Submissions BD Role with estimator support as and when required
- Provide financial and tender information updates to the Bid-Co-coordinator for the Maintenance of Opportunity Database and Bid Register. Identifies, initiates and participates in any projects that will support the company and its subsequent potential in winning and delivering successful contracts BC Role
- Support to the bid administration team in compiling, updating and maintaining a library of company standard tender documentation and maintaining records relating to submissions and successes;
- Responsibility for project managing large, strategically important bids on a national/international basis and ensuring the quality of the response meets the company standards.
Education
- Degree in a relevant discipline (desirable).
- Experience as Project Engineer / Manager in the rail sector
- Experience of bid and quotation processes and completion of submissions
- Has a clear understanding and interpretation of the questions within the pre-qualification questionnaire and tender documents. Demonstrates a creative approach to the writing and presentation of bids;
- Has experience of working in the Rail Industry
- ideally have experience of Retail and Operational Telecoms projects, installation and associated products
- An understanding of LV electrical installations would be beneficial
- An understanding of Network Rail and or LUL design processes would be beneficial
- Familiar with the OJEU process
- Familiar with standard Rail and Construction Industry Contract Terms and Conditions
- Experience of working to tight deadlines in high pressure situations
