Bridge Examiner in United Kingdom
A Bridge Examiner is required to join a national rail consultancy with offices in the South East of the UK. Based throughout the Kent and Sussex areas, the successful candidate will have experience of working in the rail industry along with a good knowledge of railway practice. You will undertake the structural examination of bridges to identify actual and potential defects across the rail networks, resulting in informed decision making regarding quality, safety and environmental objectives. The role will also involve collection of data from site and carrying out Hidden Critical Element assessments. You will have the opportunity to earn well in excess of your basic salary due to overtime.
With previous experience of working as a Bridge Examiner or Bridge Inspector you will have a good technical knowledge of bridge, rail and road maintenance works, and will have carried out on-call duties as required. You will be able to demonstrate compliance with the STE4 competency for structures examinations and will be experienced in the preparation of examination reports using the ALARM database. An ideal candidate will be educated to a degree/HNC level and have good IT skills including Microsoft Office. You will be provided with a PTS, so must also be fit and able to work on track. Candidates who have carried out Bridge/Structural Examinations within Highways, and hold similar competencies will also be considered. If you hold IRATA qualification, this will be advantageous. Provided with a van and fuel card, you must hold a valid driving licence.
