Accountabilities
1. Ensures the safety, functionality or compliance of low to medium risk newly implemented or altered assets, engineering processes, procedures or systems
2. Development and implementation of low complexity engineering solutions/ design, under supervision within Building Services E&M/ LVAC discipline through the application of defined engineering standards and governance
3. Provides internal stakeholders with appropriate challenge and professional advice to ensure the development or delivery of high quality, tested engineering solutions for the building services/ LVAC Electrical design and assurance.
4. Undertakes on-site risk-based monitoring and surveillance of works as required, resolving and or escalating risks and issues as appropriate
5. Maintains good knowledge of applicable Tfl standards, Railway Standards, British Standards and Statutory legislation applicable
6. Evaluates, selects, and applies appropriate solutions to low risk/value/complexity engineering problems that improve efficiency or effectiveness, while improving safety and reducing operating costs.
Knowledge
1. Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer, recognised international equivalent or possesses equivalent knowledge and experience
2. Basic understanding of the challenges of introducing new assets or changes in practice into the transport system and the necessary trade off between cost, time and quality
3. Good knowledge of Building Services Electrical engineering functions and basic knowledge of Mechanical, Fire and Power engineering functions,
4. Basic understanding of the interfaces between own discipline / functional specialism and the wider transport system
5. Basic understanding of the principles of risk management and value engineering
6. Working knowledge of applicable health & safety legislation, industry best practice, standards and guidance
7. Basic knowledge of the TfL Vision, Mayoral Transport Strategy, Business priorities and financial constraints
Skills & Experience
Skil Technical writing of CDS/ Electrical Services Specifications., Value Engineering reports, Survey reports, Earthing and Bonding Plans, Designers Risk Assessments.
2. Proficiency in LV design software, Lightning Protection design tools and Lighting design software (Prodesign/ Amtech/ Havecomp/ Dialux / Relux)
3. Good knowledge of BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations latest version and associated guidance documents
4. Basic knowledge in CAD
Experience in London Underground / Network Rail projects preferably in design or Engineering Assurance.
