To assist the designer on a variety of rail and infrastructure design projects for my rail client.
Role Accountabilities:
• Prepare outline and detailed design of multi-disciplinary projects as directed.
• Checking of detailed designs and drawings
• Undertake the duties of designer as highlighted in CDM legislation
• Act as design engineer on projects as directed
• Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff, and others, affected by the operations of my client
• Any other duties as required
Knowledge Required:
- Good knowledge and experience of civil engineering design and detailing
- Ideally a Good civil engineering degree 2:2 or above (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of civil design principles and standards
- Knowledge of Network Rail standards would be an advantage but not essential
- Experience in the use of Eurocodes
- Knowledge of construction principles and standards
- Be working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer
- Carry out role of design engineer under supervision with responsibilities for delivery of project(s) to the required quality, to programme and within agreed fees.
- Good understanding of safety standards and CDM requirements
- Awareness of contract conditions and the importance of contracts in project delivery
- Good commercial awareness including programming and delivery to budgets/timescales
- Proficient in the use of computer analysis programs such as TEDDS and Supersuite.
